Currently HIV Positive people who are taking out Life Assurance in the UK are insuring themselves for an average of £153,549.

This figure is an increase on the previous running amount of £140,516, but more significantly the most recent 12 months average sum assured is now £220,466. The reasons for the increase in the average amounts of cover is the improvement in products available. The monthly premiums are now the lowest ever available and length of policies the longest ever available.

Chris Morgan, Lead Financial Adviser of Unusual Risks,
Mortgage & Insurance Services said;

‘The average sum assured has remained fairly stable
for HIV Life Assurance over the last decade. However, this has improved
significantly in the last two years, due to more competitive premiums and
better terms being made available to consumers. It is vitality important that
consumers are aware that they can now cover themselves for larger sums at low
premium rates’.

‘We
are noticing significant improvements in both the monthly premiums available to
consumers and the length of the policies being made available. So, for example,
the maximum term now being offered is more likely to be between 20 and 25 years
instead of between 10 and 15 that may have been previously offered by insurance
companies. This is a very useful improvement as it is more in line with the
length of a standard mortgage’.

Chris Morgan and Unusual Risks have campaigned on behalf of the HIV
Community for the last two decades, firstly for the introduction of HIV Life
Assurance, followed by the lengthening of policy terms and then most recently
the reduction of monthly premiums. HIV Life Assurance now has the lowest
premiums and longest terms ever offered to consumers.

Although Life Insurance has been available for over a decade for People living with HIV, Income Protection and Critical Illness Cover is still unavailable. Unusual Risks are very proud to have played the lead role in improving the accessibility of financial products for people with HIV over the last decade. They have recently relaunched their IPP & CIC campaign and have re-entered discussions with leading industry figures over this issue.

Unusual Risks are the UK’s leading financial advisers offering advice to clients living with HIV or Hepatitis on HIV Life Assurance, HIV Life Insurance, HIV Mortgages, Hepatitis C Life Assurance, Hepatitis C Life Insurance, Hepatitis C Mortgages.

They are also the UK’s leading experts at planning Life Assurance and Mortgages for HIV Positive Families and are able to assist HIV Positive people looking for advice on their Pensions and Investments. *Please note Income Protection and Critical Illness is not currently available to people living with HIV.

For more information about these services please contact Unusual Risks Mortgage & Insurance Services by phone 0845 474 3075. Email Enquiries@unusualrisks.co.uk or visit us online at http://www.unusualrisks.co.uk/web www.unusualrisks.co.uk

Unusual Risks, Financial Advisers to the HIV Community have today published the results of their annual research into the Average Sum Assured of Life Assurance that HIV Positive men and women are insuring themselves for.
