Dedication, Passion, Knowledge & Experience – Part 3 By Chris Morgan
Over the last two decades I’ve looked after the Life Insurance needs of people living with HIV and gained a unique specialist knowledge of their financial needs and requirements.
Every day I meet clients who have been mistreated by the Life Insurance Industry in regards to their medical history and medical file. This has helped me to develop a deep understanding of their need to protect their mortgage, homes, families and commitments.
Most of the people that I meet have a desire to take Life Insurance and have either been declined for cover already, or are in fear of being declined for cover. Even if you have been declined for cover elsewhere in the past, it is still worth approaching us for advice as the market changes regularly.
We meet many people all of the time who have been declined for cover by insurers without any reasonable explanation. In the majority of cases we are able to find people cover, without fear of discrimination. My job is to make sure people living with HIV are treated fairly by insurer’s and to find them the best products for their needs.
Most recently we have been working on the creation of Co-Risk Life Insurance products for people with HIV, who may have other significant medical conditions. Many of which have been excluded by the Life Insurance Industry over the last two decades.
These are some of the key milestones of my career between 1999 and 2023
2005 – Success in the removal of gay questions from Life Insurance Applications, which then led to the HIV & Life Insurance Consultation between 2005-2009.
2009 – Being part of the original working group that created and introduced HIV Life Insurance products in the UK
2017 – Co-writing the Updated ABI Consumer Guide for HIV and Life Insurance, which changed the way that HIV Positive consumers were treated by Life Insurers in the UK.
2019 – Unusual Risks survey establishing that 56% of HIV Positive people were still being declined for Life Insurance, this was mainly due to significant other medical conditions. (Co-Risk)
2023 – Success in the Introduction of the new Co-Risk HIV Life Insurance products, for people with HIV and other significant medical conditions
What is “Single Risk” HIV Life Insurance Cover?
This is where someone living with HIV applies Life Insurance cover and have only minor other medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, asthma, high cholesterol, stress, anxiety, depression – we are able to arrange this type of cover for people with the very best premiums and terms available in the market.
What is “Co-Risk” HIV Life Insurance Cover?
This is where someone living with HIV applies for Life Insurance cover and they may have another significant medical condition on their medical history such as Diabetes, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Pneumonia, Syphilis.
These in the past would have almost certainly meant they would have been declined for cover.
I’m very proud to have dedicated so far over 24 years of my career to creating change within the Life Insurance Industry and this latest news is the introduction of “Co-Risk Life Insurance”. We can now arrange this type of cover too.
DECLINED FOR COVER?
Even if you were declined for cover by an insurer in the past this does not mean that your are uninsurable forever – we have a very good success rate at finding Life Insurance cover for people.
We are now able to insurer people with HIV who have also been diagnosed in the past with Diabetic Type 1, Diabetic Type 2, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, Pneumonia, STIs, Syphilis, Anemia and many other medical conditions.
If You Have Been Declined For Cover By Your Bank or Financial Adviser ? Things are now different and we are helping many people who were turned away in the past to find Life Insurance.
Following the pandemic we have been more determined than ever to make sure that everyone is able to access some form of Life Insurance. We believe it is a basic human right for people, to protect their mortgages, businesses, debts and families.
