“Things Have Changed – Part Eight” … Commentary by Chris Morgan
What to do if your declined for Life Insurance and your insurer does not explain their decision?
Many people will be aware that I’ve been consulting with the Life Insurance Industry regarding HIV related matters since 2005. During this last 17 years, I’ve witnessed literally thousands of applications for Life Insurance that have been declined, postponed or accepted with amended terms.
For most of these applications the insurers gave no reasons to the applicant for their actions and decisions and in so many of these cases they caused the applicant stress, anxiety and even depression. This was particularly the case for those people who were taking out mortgages, or were trying to protect their families and loved ones.
For the last two decades I have been leading a campaign to achieve Equality for people living with HIV when they apply for Life Insurance. I’m aware that 56% of people living with HIV, who apply directly for their Life Insurance through Banks, Building Society’s or Mainstream financial advisers, are still declined without any reasonable explanation.
Case Example, Adelaide, Age 49, Healthcare Professional … HIV & Co-Risk Medical Conditions
Before meeting myself Adelaide had no idea why she had been declined for Life Insurance, as the insurer had not communicated their exact reasons. We were able to help her find out the reasons and then appeal and challenge their decision – we have a very good track record of securing Life Insurance for people who have been declined elsewhere.
Even if you were declined for cover by an insurer in the past this does not mean that your are uninsurable forever. We are now able to insurer people with HIV who have also been diagnosed in the past with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, Pneumonia, STIs, Syphilis, Anemia and many other Co-Risk medical conditions.
If You Have Been Declined For Cover By Your Bank or Financial Adviser ? Things have changed and we can help !
Following the pandemic we have been more determined than ever to make sure that everyone is able to access some form of Life Insurance. We believe it is a basic human right for people, to protect their mortgages, debts and families.
We have encountered many people who have been adversely affected by the decisions of Life Insurance companies and we are able to help you to find out the reasons for this and to then approach insurers with whom we have a strong reputation and good relationships.
