HIV & Insurance Column – Edition 3 – September 2020

“The Generation Game” – Part 3 – “Higher Cover, Lower Premiums!” Commentary By Chris Morgan

The most satisfying aspect of seeing so many positive changes for people living with HIV in the insurance sector, is that they are now able to acquire higher levels of Life Insurance in line with their true needs, covering their mortgages, debts and families.

As an activist and advocate, who has campaigned for equal rights for both the LGBT+ and HIV communities for over two decades, it has always been my aim for People living with HIV being be able access the lowest premiums possible for their Life Insurance, which then in turn means access to higher levels of cover.

The Third Generation

This latest generation of products really does achieve that aim, with medical ratings that are applied for HIV now at the lowest they have ever been through our lead product provider. There have been many providers turning people with HIV away during the pandemic but not Unusual Risks.

We have been working harder than ever to find Life Insurance cover for  people through “Household Name” Life Insurers that you will know and also a range of inclusive insurance products for those who may not qualify for mainstream insurance, due to other medical conditions alongside HIV.

Client Case Example, Omara is Aged 42, Registered Nurse ..

Omara already had cover in place when we met her to review her existing policy,  as she was paying £113 per month for £100,000 of cover. Following our review we were able to secure her £250,000 of cover for £37.85 per month, which was a significant improvement on her existing insurance.

Even during the pandemic we have been finding the very best premiums for clients. As specialist financial advisers for people with HIV, we are always up to date with the latest premium rates and underwriting criteria across all product providers.

Declined For Cover? We Can Help !

The current situation with COVID 19 and Corona Virus means that many people living with HIV are being declined by Life Insurance Companies. During this time, we have been working hard to put in place an underwriting process that means all people with HIV are able to access Life Insurance in some form.

We believe that everyone should be able to access some form of Life Insurance as a basic human right, to protect their mortgages debts and families. Keep checking my new HIV and Insurance column for details of our campaign “Life Insurance For All!”
